About John

The Fowler family began farming in Bothwell, Tasmania, in 1825. John has lived and worked in the Central Highlands all his life. The most important thing in life to John is family.

Background

The farming tradition of the Fowler family began in 1825, focusing on Merino sheep. In the mid 1800s sheep grazing expaned as Bothwell became a hub for pastoral development. The family continued farming through generations. In the late 20th century there was a transition from pure Merino to composite breeds for easier care and higher productivity. The farm is now run by John's son Russ Fowler.
